So we will be starting a new series on our blog called INSTANT VINTAGE. This category will feature ideas, designs, objects that we think will be "Immediate Classics".·

Our inaugural post will be our "1st Zainido Decor Color of the Week in 2011" (that was a mouthful). We decided that we would start 2011 with a vibrant shade of orange that encompassed our momentum for the new year called TANGERINE. We did palettes and even one beautiful illustration.

Here was our inspiration for the color:·

Here at Zainido Decor, we are color driven and one of the colors that we just didn't see out there in event decor was orange. Additionally, being the trendsetters that we are, we felt that orange was going to be a popular color used this coming Spring and into the fall so........enjoy the palettes and go ahead and feel our TANGERINE radiance!!! Sssccchhhwwwiiiing!!!! (That was supposed to be our sunburst sound effect)

As I indulge my 2yr olds obsession with stickers, I was reminded of how much I used to love them when I was little and a recent product I discovered that allows me to live in my vintage world of Unicorns, hearts and rainbows.

Well, its not exactly unicorns, hearts and rainbows, but TEMPAPER Designs has created a genius line of temporary wallpaper that is perfect for home, commercial and event use, because with its sticky backing (like a sticker) it is easily applied and removed, but has awesome stayable power, so no worries about it coming off unexpectedly. I personally have used the "Damsel" in two colors, for two very different uses. I'm not even a girl who gets into the Damask-of-it-all but I swear by the black/white and the fuschia/white styles. Its adds just enough pretty with out having to do a large space.

Here at Zainido Decor we have used the "Damsel" for our Stella Panels, which are golden oldies for our Baby Shower and Bridal Shower Clients. 

DNA Design Clinic, our sister Interior Design firm, has also used the Damsel in a salon in Oakland, California that was just finished. The client wanted a Hollywood Regency look infused with turquoise.

Tempaper Designs has oodles of other design available as well. If you have an itchin' for Art Deco or Art Nouveau inspired design these designs are stellar candidates for capturing your vision without breaking the bank. Zainido Decor recently created some hanging panels using IKEA's sliding panel kit and the GIO Black & Clay below to give a client's roaring 20's party some ambience. It was a different use for the paper but worked beautifully for the event because the paper is that durable even if you never take it from the backing.

Some of the best designs stem from elements that can be added or emphasized in a variety of ways. Popping up everywhere by way of housewares is the owl. Cute owls, retro owls or playful owls are being used to dress up everything from picture frames, to textiles, pillows, cookie jars and even lamps. Use just a simple accent to add character to a room or complement a scheme of colors by taking a more thematic approach. All we know is you can reallly use this style wisely and to your advantage.
